It wasn’t until early 1800 that the British government finally began to take note of the inhumane things children faced with everyday.
In 1802, parliament passed the first law concerning child labour; it stated, that children under the age of nine years old were not allowed to work in factories and pauper children fourteen or younger were not allowed to work at night, and in 1819 the law expanded to include all children; however, it wasn’t really until 1833 that these laws were enforced and people began to actually care about the things that were happening.
These were vital advancements and were the preface to a more idealistic, equal, society for not only children but all peoples.
